SRINAGAR, Nov 9: Parts of Kashmir were lashed by rains this evening while upper reaches received fresh snowfall leading to closure of Mughal Road.
The Meteorological Department has forecast rains in plains and snow over the higher reaches from Thursday evening.
It was drizzling in Srinagar and North Kashmir this evening and snowing in hills with one inch snowfall recorded in Kongdoori. There was also fresh snowfall in Pir Ki Gali area leading to slippery road conditions and authorities closed the Road for vehicular traffic.
The MeT office here said that an active Western Disturbance is anticipated to bring rain and snow to Jammu and Kashmir from Thursday to Friday.
The precipitation is set to commence on Thursday afternoon, initiating in higher areas and gradually spreading to the plains by evening.
“On November 9, the weather is expected to be generally cloudy with light rain over plains and light snow over the higher reaches like Razdan Pass, Sadhna Pass, Sinthan Pass, Zojila, and Mughal Road,” the MeT office said.
