SRINAGAR, Aug 5: A brief spell of light to moderate rainfall waterlogged several city areas of Srinagar this morning causing inconvenience to the commuters and school going children.

Several low-lying areas in Srinagar were waterlogged due to the rain in the morning that blocked drainage systems leading to water accumulation and throwing life out of gear.
Srinagar city centre Lal Chowk and Residency Road, the areas which are visited by thousands of tourists every day remained waterlogged due to morning showers. The commuters faced difficulty in travelling.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has predicted brief spells of rain and thundershower at a few places during day with spells of light to moderate rain and thundershower at many places of Jammu and Kashmir towards night or early morning till August 7.
The weather office has issued an advisory that due to intense showers there is a possibility of flash floods/cloud bursts/landslides/mudslides and shooting stones over vulnerable places of J&K and heavy rainfall at few places of J&K during the next three days.
The rains brought some respite from hot weather conditions in the morning but the afternoon became humid causing discomfort to the people.
