SRINAGAR, Apr 3: The higher reaches of Kashmir received snowfall today while the rains lashed the Valley leading to drop in the day temperatures.
Gurez in Bandipora district and its adjacent areas received fresh snowfall today.
The rains lashed Srinagar and other parts of the Valley later afternoon hours, bringing down the mercury here.
Against yesterday’s 21.4 degree Celsius, the maximum temperature in Srinagar settled at 17.1 degree Celsius today which is 0.6 degree Celsius below normal for the place during this time of the year.
The maximum temperature also plummeted in other places including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Qazigund, Kokernag, Kupwara and other areas compared to yesterday and mostly stayed below normal for this time of the year.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 17.0 degree Celsius today which is 0.3 degree Celsius below normal for the place during this time of the year.
Pahalgam recorded a maximum of 13.3 degree Celsius today which is 1.3 degree Celsius below normal for the place during this time of the year.
Kupwara recorded a maximum of 13.1 degree Celsius today which is 4.6 degree Celsius below normal for the place during this time of the year.
Kokernag recorded a maximum of 17.7 degree Celsius today which is 1.3 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.
Gulmarg recorded a maximum of 9.0 degree Celsius today which is 2.1 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.
Meanwhile, Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad however, stated that the weather conditions will improve by tomorrow and there is a forecast of generally dry weather on April 04.
Furthermore, he stated that the partly cloudy with light rain and snow is expected at isolated places on April 05th.
He added that according to the forecast, the weather would remain generally dry from April 06-April 10.
The Meteorological department has also issued an advisory for the farmers, asking them to resume farm operation except on April 03 and April 05.
