SRINAGAR, May 12: Kashmir valley lashed by rains, while Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Sunday predicted intermittent light to moderate rain on plains and snow over higher reaches during the next 24 hours.
Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir experienced light rainfall disrupting normal activities on Sunday, and it was still raining at most weather stations of the valley when this report was filed.

The MeT office said the weather will remain generally cloudy with intermittent light to moderate rain (light snow over higher reaches) at most places, with thunder, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds at a few places on Sunday.
The weather will turn partly to generally cloudy with light rain/thunder at a few places on May 13, while the weather will generally remain dry from May 14 to May 18.
On May 19, there are chances of light rain and thundershowers at a few places towards the afternoon, and the weather will remain dry from May 20 to 23, the MeT office said.
Amid inclement weather forecast, the MeT office has advised farmers to suspend farm operations during the next 24 hours. Besides, there is a possibility of landslides and shooting stones at a few vulnerable places in Jammu and Kashmir.
There is a possibility of hailstorms, gusty winds, thunder, and lighting at a few places, the MeT office said, cautioning people to avoid boating and Shikara riding during the inclement weather.
Barring the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, the minimum temperature during the intervening nights of Saturday and Sunday was recorded above normal in all weather stations of the valley.
The day temperature was recorded 1-2 degrees Celsius above normal on the previous day, except at the tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir.
The MeT office said Srinagar recorded a low of 12.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday, and it was 2.0 degrees Celsius above normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pahalgam recorded a low of 5.8 degrees Celsius, and it was 0.7 degrees Celsius above normal, while Gulmarg settled at 5.5 degrees Celsius, and it was 0.5 degrees Celsius below normal for the ski resort of north Kashmir on Sunday.
