Raise bridge issue in DDB meeting: Minister to MLA

JAMMU, Apr 3: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah today asked the National Panthers Party MLA from Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia to raise the issue of bridge on Chubu nullah in Panchari area in the District Development Board meeting in order to find permanent solution to the washing away of road stretch due to landslides.
Mr Saifullah, who was responding to the Calling Attention Notice of the NPP MLA on behalf of Minister In-charge Revenue, gave this suggestion to the MLA after the latter sought to know why the provision of the bridge was not kept in Rs 10.50 crore Krimchi-Landar road scheme by the concerned department.
“MLAs should also play their role in getting the pressing needs of their respective areas addressed by making good use of the District Development Board meeting platform”, Mr Saifullah said, adding “you raise the issue in the DDB meeting and get it approved there so that the proper sanction is accorded and DPR prepared for the bridge”.
Earlier, the Minister informed the House that about 600 meter road length has got subsided due to landslide and about 60-70 kanal agriculture land having wheat crop damaged. About five houses and one temple also got completed erased and about 13 houses become inhabitable/unsafe besides about 10 houses received crakes and are also not safe.
About 27 families have been paid Red Cross Monetary relief of Rs 5000 each, 14 families were provided tents and 10 families utensils. Additional 10 tents from Division Commissioner Jammu’s office have also been made available and can be given as per demand. Moreover, free ration for two months has also been announced, the Minister said, adding transshipment arrangement has also been put in place and one ambulance, water tanker and kerosene oil tanker have been stationed in the area.
“The final assessment of losses is under process by the district administration. As soon as the final damage report/requirement of funds is received, the matter will be placed before the State Executive Committee for consideration under SDRF norms”, the Minister said.
