JAIPUR, Aug 14: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will inaugurate the Mukhyamantri Nishulk Annapurna Food Packet Scheme on the occasion of Independence Day.
The State Government is continuously running many schemes for the welfare of the needy people. In order to give relief to the common man from inflation, the scheme is set to be launched at 3:30 pm on August 15 in Birla Auditorium.
The launching ceremony of the scheme will be organized at more than 25,000 fair price shops along with all district and block headquarters including the newly formed districts. The Annapurna food packets will be distributed free of cost to the eligible beneficiaries at the inauguration ceremonies at state, district and block level and fair price shops. The state level program will be broadcasted live at district and block level.
The FPS kiosk will be set up at the district and block level function where the public representatives will distribute free food packets to the beneficiaries through POS machines. Members of the State Council, MLAs and other public representatives will remain present in these programs.
Under this scheme, families covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) will get Annapurna food packets every month from the ration shops. In this packet, one kg gram pulses, sugar and iodized salt, one liter soybean refined edible oil, 100 gram powder each of chili powder and coriander powder, and 50 grams turmeric powder will be given to the beneficiaries at free of cost. This scheme will be a milestone in the direction of realizing the State Government’s resolution-‘No one should sleep hungry in the State.’
It is notable that Gehlot had announced the scheme in the current financial year’s budget to provide relief from inflation to the NFSA families of the State. The State Government will spend around Rs4500 crore annually on this scheme. This sensitive initiative by the Chief Minister will provide great relief to more than one crore needy families in the era of inflation. So far, more than 1 crore 4.92 lakh people have registered themselves in Mahangai Rahat Camps to avail benefits of the scheme. The registration is still on in the permanent camps.
