Rajbagh police seizes illicit liquor, arrests 2

KATHUA, May 30: In continuation to its drive against illicit liquor, under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, police team of Police Station (PS) Rajbagh while on patrolling duty near NHW Chadwal recovered 22 more bottles of illicit liquor, arrested two persons and seized the vehicle involved.
Police said a team of Police Station (PS) Rajbagh led by Inspector, Bhopinder Singh SHO under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan while on patrolling duty near NHW Chadwal intercepted one vehicle (Wagonr Car) bearing Registration Number JK17-3878 which was being driven by a person namely Rakesh Kumar, son of Puran Chand of Bamiyal, Punjab and other person namely Sarwan Kumar, son of Parlhad Sharma of Kishtwar at present Janipur Jammu.
During checking 22 Bottles of MC Dowell’s Punjab Excise Whisky has been recovered which were purportedly kept to be sold in the adjoining area among general public at exorbitant rates to gain illegitimate profit. Thereafter, all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor along with vehicle was seized and both of the accused were arrested.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No 84/2021 U/S 48, 50-(I) Excise Act has been registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation of the case is going on.
