SRINAGAR, Oct 17: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra today said that the performance of SPOs and personnel of the force are being monitored at the PHQ level.
Mr. Rajendra was addressing the police personnel of South Kashmir at District Police Lines Pulwama this afternoon. He announced absorption of 61 SPOs as constables and 48 out of turn promotions of different ranks to their next higher ranks. He handed over the orders to the beneficiaries on the spot. The SPOs and personnel include from districts of Kulgam, Shopian, Anantnag, Pulwama, and Awantipore of South Kashmir Range.
He said that SPOs have been playing a bigger role with the jawans and officers of JKP in maintaining law & order and other professional duties in the State and their role has also been acknowledged by the Government. He disclosed that SPOs are being absorbed as Constables and Followers in the department on technical grounds, required under the policy already framed by the department. He said that the absorption of SPOs and out of turn promotions are being given on the recommendations of senior officers in recognition of their performance and are scrutinized at PHQ level by Police Establishment Board.
Stressing upon the personnel to improve their proficiency, Mr. Rajendra said that goodwill of the people is a valuable and dependable asset to meet the challenges. He said people friendly image has benefited the force immensely to exhibit on different fronts of policing. In order to strengthen the image of the Organization among the people, a spirit of public service is to be inculcated as police public coordination is of paramount importance to keep the peace and order maintained in the society.
Later, Mr. Rajendra addressed district police officers meeting of South Kashmir and asked the officers to begin the task and formulate the comprehensive strategy in coordination with other security agencies. He said that continuous vigil should be maintained on the activities of suspicious elements to foil any subversive design.
The durbar and meeting was attended by IGP, (Kashmir Zone), A. G. Mir, DIG (SKR), Vijay Kumar, AIG (Personnel), Tahir Sajjad, SSPs, Tejinder Singh, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, Mumtaz Ahmed, Showkat Hussain Shah, Abdul Wahid Shah and other district police officers.
Earlier, Mr. Rajendra along with ADGPs, S.P. Vaid and S. M. Sahai visited the Armed Police Complex Zewan and took stock of the arrangements made in connection with the police commemoration day parade to be held on October 21.
