Rajendra visits Valley; reviews security, law & order scenario

SRINAGAR, Feb 6: Highlighting the importance of peace and order for the prosperity of the State, Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar has stressed the need for better police public relations and greater synergy among security agencies.
Mr. Rajendra was chairing officers meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) here this evening. The meeting was attended by senior police officers including IGP Kashmir, A. G. Mir, IGP CRPF, K.S. Bhandari, DIG CKR, G. H. Bhat, DIGs CRPF, K. M. Yadav and Raja Sekran, SSPs Amit Kumar, Imtiyaz Hussain Mir and SDPOs of Srinagar District.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Rajendra stressed upon the officers to maintain close coordination and ensure security, law and order in their respective jurisdictions. He asked to keep the activities of the inimical elements under surveillance, who would always try to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere.” While dealing with such elements, it should be ensured that law abiding citizens are not put to any inconvenience,” Mr. Rajendra said.
He also reviewed the present status of anti-militancy operations and professional policing. He stressed for maintaining close coordination with other security agencies to deal the situations firmly and achieve desired results. He said that JKP is firm to make the State terror free and provide peaceful atmosphere to the people. The force along with other security agencies has been maintaining pressure on the subversive elements and their mentors, which has yielded encouraging results, he added.
The DGP was also apprised about the security, law and order scenario in the Valley. He asked the officers to interact with the people in their respective areas and provide them a helping hand in mitigating their hardships caused due to unfavourable weather. This would strengthen their bonds with the public and help in dealing the situations in a befitting manner, he maintained.
Earlier, the DGP took stock of the progress on anti-militancy front in a meeting held at District Police Lines (DPL) Awantipora in South Kashmir and asked for effective mechanism to eradicate the menace of militancy. He said joint efforts should be put in place by the security agencies to curb subversive activities.
He also addressed the cops in DPL and appreciated their dedication and success in the anti-militancy operations in the area. He paid tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives in recent operations against the militants. DIG SKR, Ali Mohammad also attended the darbar, besides IGP Kashmir.
Referring the sacrifices made by JKP while restoring peace and order in the State, the DGP said that the force faced tough situations and with the cooperation of the people we succeeded in tackling the situations effectively. He said that the Organisation has been focussing on different fronts and strengthening its functioning in order to provide better police service to the people.
