JAMMU, Aug 1: Eminent journalist-cum-broadcaster, Rajesh Bhat has been awarded Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by University of Jammu for undertaking prestigious media related research work guarding the cultural and strategic interests of India.
Presently on an important assignment in the office of CEO, Prasar Bharati Secretariat at New Delhi, Mr Bhat has a distinction of having a long and eventful association with Daily Excelsior where he worked as a Special Correspondent prior to switching over to All India Radio.
He has also remained associated with the Tribune and many feature agencies and is the first journalist from the State, having awarded PhD in Media related subject after his Masters Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Kashmir University in 1988.
The research work on “Strategic Interest and Media” with an emphasis on the role of Radio Kashmir, was accomplished under the supervision of Dr Mohd Monir Alam of the Department of Strategic and Regional Studies, Jammu University.
Mr Bhat’s unexplored doctoral work discusses in detail Pakistani media propaganda in Jammu and Kashmir during the full-fledged wars of 1947, 1965, 1971 and Kargil intrusion of 1999 besides ongoing proxy war launched in 1989.
