MANDI: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh made a frontal attack on Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for dragging state economy to the brink of bankruptcy due to widespread corruption, financial improprieties and large scale extravagance on unproductive expenses to rehabilitate the rejected and defeated politicians personally loyal to him.
Addressing two parivartan rallies at Behna in Balh constituency and Nachan in Nachan assembly segment of Mandi district on Wednesday, the Union Home Minister lamented that all development works in the hilly state came to a grinding halt after Congress came to power by chance.
He was given to understand that within just two years the people of the hill state were disillusioned with the Congress misrule, unbridled bureaucracy and corruption.
Some trusted but retired officers ruled the state in an arbitrary and autocratic manner.
Consequently Congress lost all the four parliamentary seats to BJP. He said with the emergence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi an era of honesty had ushered in in the country.
No minister or MLA of BJP has been charged with any allegation of corruption while during the Congress rule the corruption and scams had become an order of the day.
All Congress leaders used to rush to the media to defend the alleged guilty without holding any inquiry. Modi government, he said, had crushed the corrupt with an iron hand.
As many as Rs 850 crore has been seized from illegal and fake companies operating in the country. Stern action against the guilty rich persons had made Modi the hero of the poor.
Only those holding black money to their breast are feeling like a fish out of water. Ridiculously some corrupt politicians bear a grudge against Modi for not having disclosed them the move of demonization.
The Jan Dhan Yojana and providing free LPG to the poor rural woman were some of the measures which endeared him to them. He declared that the dream of the Modi government to provide remunerative price of the produce of the farmers and shelter to every person would be positively realized by the year 2022. (agencies)
