JAMMU, Mar 13: To provide safe drinking water to every household, Councillor, Rajni Bala of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Ward 60 today started work of laying water pipes.
The pipe work will be completed at an expenditure of Rs. 78 lakh and the Councillor also assured three tube-wells in the Ward which will incur Rs. 80 lakh each.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajni said that she is committed for the development of her Ward.
“Every inch of my Ward will be developed,” she said adding: “The safe drinking water is basic necessity of the people.
The JMC Councillor also said that there is acute shortage of drinking water supply due to defunct pipe network and the new pipe network will cater to the needs of hundreds of households who were either forced to purchase drinking water or have to go to other places to fetch water.
Rajni said that 8 inch diameter pipe will be laid from Mohalla Gujjar Paloura to Mohalla Tiny Tot Dhok Paloura and adjoining areas replacing existing pipes.
She said that three tube-wells will also be established soon in the area so that the people may get adequate supply of safe drinking water.
Executive Engineer PHE, City 1st Division along with AEE Sethi and other PHE staffers along with locals including Som Nath Sharma, Chander Mohan Sharma, Om Parkash, Ajmer Singh, Tarun Vaid, Shvirender Mehta, Parshotam Kumar, Anita Kumari, Dev Raj, Harbans Lal, Nitu, Ballu, Ramash, Hans, Vinay Baru, Dayal Singh and others were also present on this occasion.
