Rajouri based couple killed in Amritsar

JAMMU, Aug 10: Rajouri based husband and wife were killed in a tragic road accident and 10 school children were injured on Amritsar-Jammu National Highway today.
A police spokesman said, accident occurred when a private school bus near Sohiya village was joining the National Highway without noticing that a speedy car already coming on the highway which hit the school bus wherein car occupants husband and wife were killed on the spot besides 10 school children were injured.
Police said the accident occurred due to the sheer negligence of the school bus driver who joined the National Highway at Amirtsar without noticing that a speedy Alto car followed by truck loaded with sand coming on the same road.
Police said when a school van boarded with kids joined the highway, an Alto car hit the school van then a speedy sand loaded truck following the car overturned when its driver applied the emergency brake.
Police said one Rajouri based man identified as Narinder Pal Singh, son of Makhan Singh, a resident of Hunjana Thakra, in district Rajouri and his wife, who were travelling in the Alto car were killed on the spot and driver of the truck got badly injured when it overturned.
The driver of the School van fled from the spot while leaving the injured kids behind who were immediately admitted to the nearby private hospital where all of them were declared out of danger.
