Rajpura villagers in Pargwal stage protest against PWD

AKHNOOR, Jan 8: The villagers from Rajpura near the Indo-Pak border in Pargwal area held protest against the PW(R&B) Department for abandoning work, leading to deteriorating condition of the road.
The villagers including large number of women assembled at their village about 5 kms from Pargwal and held protest demonstration against the PWD authorities and the Sub Divisional authorities for ignoring their plight despite sending several representations through village Sarpanch.
The villagers raised loud slogans even against Chief Engineer R&B Jammu and Deputy Commissioner Jammu and demanded that they should intervene into the matter. They said such worst is the condition of this road that even mini-buses and auto-rikshaws have stopped operating on this road. The school going children and the patients of the area are facing hardships.
One of the villagers said that this road was sanctioned before Covid-19 with the estimated cost of Rs 5 crores and concerned contractor did some work and later it was abandoned due to unknown reasons. They said what made the contractor to suspend this work, the people of the area do not know. They demanded that work on the road be resumed and mini-bus service should also be restored to the village after making urgent repair work.
