SAMBA, July 7: Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha today distributed scholarship among meritorious and economically weaker students of Rajput community in Samba, here today.
On the occasion, the Sabha also honoured Vishan Singh Dardi who has been recently nominated for the Sahitya Akademi Award in the category of Children Literature.
Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha has been s providing scholarship to meritorious and economically weaker students of the Rajput community every year to encourage the students to continue their studies.
Scholarship amounting to Rs 176,500 was distributed among 51 economically weaker students. 31 other students who scored more than 90 percent marks and did not fall in the category of economically weaker section, were also honoured with trophies.
Chief guest of the occasion was Narayan Singh, former president of the Sabha who advised the students to concentrate on their studies and health. He said both studies and health are equally important in life and the Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha was always ready to extend them helping hand in their endeavor to become a responsible citizen.
The programme was organized under the supervision of Jagdish Singh (Vice President) of Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha, Samba, who also addressed the gathering. He suggested the parents to keep close watch on their wards in view of present scenario.
Capt Inder Singh (President of SAKRS, Samba) also appealed the students to take part in games for sound health and say no to drugs. He said that this scholarship is for EWS students of the Biradari so that they don’t face financial problem to continue their studies.
The function was attended by Mangleshwar Singh (general secretary of Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha Jammu), Jaidev Singh (Finance Secretary, Samba), Karan Singh (Secretary, Samba), Raj Singh (president Sambyal Biradari), Shivcharan Singh (Chairman) of Sambyal Biradari, Capt Waryam Singh, Qabla Singh(Vice-president Samba) , Shivcharan Singh, Shiv Darshan Singh, Darwara Singh, Gurdev Singh Balbir Singh, Deepak Charak, Sukhdev Singh, Karan Singh and others.
