JAMMU, Oct 2: The first anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was celebrated with great enthusiasm by various Government, private as well as social institutions.
A week-long celebration of first anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ culminated today at Delhi Public School, Jammu, with conducting of a Marathon, which was flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh along with Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta. About 100 students along with 30 teachers participated in the Marathon which started from Satwari Chowk and ended at Floriculture Department, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Principal DPS, Jammu, Ruchi Chabra, was also present on the occasion. The ceremony was also graced by Director Floriculture, Ashok Gupta.
Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Choudhary Lal Singh today launched ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ here from Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) to commemorate 146th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Sat Pal Sharma, Principal GMCH Jammu, Dr Ghanshyam Dev Gupta, Director Health, Dr BS Pathania and Director NRHM Dr Mohan Singh besides many other dignitaries participated in the drive. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the objective of the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ launched by PM Narendra Modi is to make India a clean and healthy country. He said it is not only the responsibility of Safai Karamcharis to keep our surroundings clean but every citizen has to contribute in this noble mission.
Jammu Development Authority (JDA) organized an awareness programme at Maharaja Hari Singh Park on the occasion of first anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ launched by PM Narendra Modi on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East, who was the chief guest, while speaking on the occasion said that it was the duty of all of them to keep their city and surroundings neat and clean. Vice Chairman JDA, Mubarak Singh, who was also present. Later, all the officials of JDA and citizens from surrounding areas participated in the cleanliness drive launched by JDA in Maharaja Hari Singh Park.
To mark the 1st anniversary ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ District Magistrate (DM), Kishtwar Saugat Biswas, today flagged off a Swachh Bharat Mission rally at Kishtwar. About 500 students from various schools besides officers of the district administration participated in the rally. During the rally, the students were holding banners and placards depicting various themes related to neat and clean environment. Speaking on the occasion DM Kishtwar stressed the student community to develop and prioritizing the habit of cleaning their houses, schools and the surroundings.
To mark the celebration of first anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, DC Doda, Bhupinder Kumar today lead a cleanliness drive from DC Office complex Doda to Sports stadium Doda in which all District officers, students and members from civil society participated. The participants swept the area from DC office complex to sports stadium and picked up the rappers along the road and in the periphery of sports stadium.
A number of Grameen Sabhas were held in all panchyats of Kathua district under the supervision of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ramesh Kumar, to commemorate the anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission. The DDC visited panchayat Chhangran and enlightened rural masses about Swachh Bharat Mission. He asked the officers to sensitize rural masses regarding cleanliness to make rural areas Open Defecation and polythene free.
The 1st anniversary of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” was also organized in Group Centre CRPF Kootah at Nagrota. All officers and men of Group Centre CRPF Kootah along with people of Nagar Panchayat Nagrota cleaned the area of Sainik School Road and nearby area of GC Campus. On this occasion, Mukesh Tyagi, 2-I/C, Arun Kumar, Deputy Commandant and other officers, Jawans and Sarpanch of Nagrota, Raman Wazir, were present and participated in cleanliness drive. Thereafter, Mukesh Tyagi, 2-I/C along with officers and all Jawans took pledge to keep their surroundings clean.
A programme in connection with ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ was organized at Railway Station Jammu under the chairmanship of senior officer of Firozpur Division, Ashok Kumar Arora. Speaker, State Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, was the chief guest while various officers of Railway Station Jammu were also present. While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest sought support of all to for the success of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ launched by PM Narendra Modi.
A cleanliness drive under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ was also initiated today in Government Degree College (GDC) Bhaderwah under the guidance of Principal, Prof Zahir Abas Hasmi. All the staff members of the college including teaching and non-teaching staff cleaned the in and outs of the college premises and took pledge to keep their surroundings neat and clean.
On the eve of 1st anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, a cleanliness drive was organized in the premises of GDC Surankote in which a large number of NSS volunteers and other college students participated. While speaking on the occasion, Principal, Dr Mushtaq A Lone, delivered a brief lecture and asked the students to make the cleanliness a permanent feature in their lives.
CHC Akhnoor under the supervision of Block Medical officer, Akhnoor, Dr Vinod Kumar, celebrated the 1st anniversary of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” (Clean India Mission) under the dynamic leadership of Choudhary Lal Singh, Minister for Health & Medical Education by initiating a cleanliness drive in hospital premises. The doctors, paramedics and other staff of the hospital participated in the drive by cleaning the hospital and its surrounding areas.
A cleanliness drive under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” was started by health officials in District Hospital Baramulla.
The drive was kick started by Medical Superintendent Baramulla Dr Syed Masood and Chief Medical Officer Baramulla Dr Bashir Ahmad Chalkoo.
They said drive is meant to sensitise the medical fraternity to improve hospital sanitation and reduce the infection.
In accordance with the spirit of Swachh Bharat campaign launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Wave Mall management and staff conducted a cleanliness drive in and around Wave Mall. The aim of the drive was to create awareness among the visitors of the Mall regarding importance of clean and green environment and to make the whole Mall as polythene free zone. GM of Wave Mall, Ranjit Singh also participated in the drive.
A cleanliness drive in connection with 1st anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was also initiated by Hare Krishna Food for Life, a unit of Sirla Parbhupaad Ashram (ISKON Mission) in Udhampur. The devotees of ISKON Mission initiated the drive by lifting garbage and solid waste material and also sweeping the roads of Ramnagar Chowk, Mukherji Bazar, Gole Market, Main Bazar, Chabutra Bazar, Salliyan Tallab area and Hospital Road. The drive culminated at ISKON Temple Udhampur.
A programme in connection with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was also organized by Sun Pharma IGC Ph- I, Sidco Complex Samba, in its premises. All the staff members participated in the programme, which ended with cleanliness drive in the industrial premises.
Today, on the eve of 1st anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Vision 2020 Group and Municipal Council Udhampur organizes a cleanliness drive in Housing Colony Udhampur. The drive was started by DC Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary. After the drive all the people accumulated at Housing Colony banquet hall and a colourful program was organized.
In connection with 1st anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Privartan, an NGO organized a cleanness drive in Jammu in which a large number of volunteers participated. While addressing the gathering, president Parivartan, Vikas Sharma, emphasized that it is the duty of everyone to contribute in the ongoing awareness programme for making the Jammu Clean. Later, an oath was administered to all the participants to keep the environment neat and clean.
Bharat Vikas Parishad, Gandhi Nagar Branch, also launched a cleanliness drive at Mohalla Gorkha Mandir, Nanak Nagar (Jammu). The drive was formally initiated by SN Sharma, patron of Bharat Vikas Parishad, along with other office bearers. All the participants took oath to keep their surroundings always neat and clean.
The members of NGO ‘Jiyo Aur Jeene Do’ organized a cleanliness drive to mark the birth anniversary of Gandhi ji as well as Lal Bahadur Shastri at Shah Market, Udhampur. The members gathered at the Shah Market and paid floral homage to these two great sons of soil and carried the cleanliness of the area enthusiastically.
In connection with 1st anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, Bharat Swabhimaan Trust, Reasi organized a cleanliness drive at Reasi. In all, various other organizations VHP, RSS and other organizations participated in this sanitation drive. The participants took to the streets, picked up the waste and garbage and disposed it in dustbins.
Alpha Mission School, village Gho Rakwala, Vijaypur also celebrated Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and took out awareness rally.
On the eve of 1st anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a cleanliness drive was also launched at District Headquarters and different Tehsils unit of District Kishtwar by Bharat Swabhiman unit in collaboration with Vishwashanti, an NGO. A particular area of Historic Chowgan (Prade ground) was selected for Safai Abhiyan. Special contingents of student volunteers from Adarsh Balniketan High School, SDM High school, Dafodill School and BVM took part in the Abhiyan.
On 1st anniversary of the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a special Gram Sabha of Ghagwal, Harsath and Nonath panchayats was held in the block head quarter Ghagwal. Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Samba, Tilak Raj Thapa, was the chief guest on the occasion. The sarpanches, panches and members of self help groups participated in the event. Speaking on the occasion, the ACD laid special emphasis to make villages clean and green and open defecation free. A cleanliness-cum-awareness walk was also held in the vicinity of panchayat.
To commemorate anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Sonia Anand, president, Women Folk Billawar, district Kathua organized a cleanliness drive at Billawar. She also aware the people regarding ill-effects of polluted environment. She appealed to the masses to keep the environment neat and clean. Bharti, Poonam, Vidya, Suman, Trishla, Pushpa, Sonu, Jai Pal and Shobana were also present on the occasion.
