Ramakrishna Mission holds youth convention

JAMMU, May 30: Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu organized a “youth convention” to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Ramakrishna Mission today. Swami Yajnadharanandji Maharaj, secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu explained the programme in brief to the audience. He said that Swami Vivekananda established the Ramakrishna Mission and inspired everyone the ideal of realizing ‘Atmano Mokshartham Jagat Hitaya Cha’, which means salvation for oneself and welfare of the world. Vivekananda had great hope from the youth, he added.
He said Ramakrishna Mission is organizing 125 youth conferences in its branch centers across the country to make youth aware of Vivekananda’s teachings. Some youth selected from these branch centres will be sent to Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math in the coming December. They will get a chance to participate in youth conference at Belur Math, the headquarters of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.
Swami Anupamanandji Maharaj, secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Chandigarh, addressed the youth on the topic “Personality Development as guided by Swami Vivekananda”. In his simple and effective style, he said how Vivekananda’s ideal can be helpful in forming a high-quality personality. Through example, he said that the teachings of Vivekananda can inspire even a person who is going to commit suicide and make him to walk on the path of social welfare. Inspiring the youth, Anupamanandji explained in detail the immortal sermon of Vivekananda ‘Arise, Awake and Stop not till the goal is achieved’. The programme started with Vedic chanting. It included Swadesh Mantra, guided meditation sessions, motivational lectures and cultural performances. A question answer session was also conducted.
I.K Raina was also present in this session. The program ended with the National Anthem. About 200 students from various colleges participated.
