JAMMU, Mar 27: A programme of classical music and inspirational talk was organised here today by Ramakrishna Mission in collaboration with Sacred Heart Public School, Purkhoo Camp and Visakhapatnam-based Tarakeshwara Foundation.
The programme coincided with the start of 25th year of the Jammu chapter of Ramakrishna Mission.
In the classical music performance, Vijay Kumar Sambyal, former Director of All India Radio, popular as Rangeeley Thakur, gave a scintillating exposition of Raag Bhairavi in both the ‘Vilambit’ and ‘Drut Layas’ along with other performances. He concluded his recital with an ecstatic rendering of ‘Aaj Radha Aayi Braj Mein’.
The musical performance then gave way to an inspirational talk by the former Editor of The Vedanta Kesari and the senior monk of Ramakrishna Mission order from Mysuru in Karnataka, Swami Mahamedhananda.
Speaking on the subject of ‘Vivekananda and Youth,’ the Swami exhorted the youth and children to imbibe the teachings of Swami Vivekananda who abhorred the life of selfish ends.
The audience included students and teachers from Sacred Heart Public School, devotees of the Ashram and members of general public.
