JAMMU, Jan 24: Ramawtar has been posted as new IG BSF, Jammu Frontiers in place of DK Upadhyaya.
He was presently posted as DIG/PSO Frontier Headquarters, BSF Jammu. On his promotion as IG, he has been posted as IG BSF Jammu frontiers.
Upadhyaya has been posted at BSF Headquarters in New Delhi.
Ramawtar has achieved two major milestones of his career today as he was awarded President Police Medal for Distinguish Service on eve of Republic Day and was also posted as IG BSF Jammu, official sources said.
Ramawtar had joined BSF as Assistant Commandant in Cadre in 1984 and has served in almost every corner of country. He served during peak militancy in Kashmir for long years in Sopore, Lolab, Zakhura and Kulgam and was awarded Police Medal for Gallantry for his conspicuous gallant act in 1999. He is a force level instructor.
He was the first DIG BSF who established BSF HQ and deployed BSF battalions successfully in most sensitive Naxal affected area for Operation in Chhattisgarh and commanded Sector for three years.
