JAMMU, Aug 13: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, M H Malik and SP Ramban, Javeed Iqbal Mattoo today chaired meetings of peace committees at Ramban and Batote and sought the cooperation of prominent citizens in maintaining law and order and peace in the district.
Both the Deputy Commissioner and SP asked the prominent citizens to intervene and guide the people so that peace prevails. They also made an appeal to the people not to pay attention to the rumours and requested them to confirm from local police or PCR regarding any rumour.
Similarly, SDPO and Tehsildar Banihal convened the peace committee meetings at Banihal area. Peace rallies were also taken out in Ukhral and Ramsoo where people took pledge to fight communalism and work for peace in the area. They assured that all efforts would be made to maintain peace in the area. Peace committee meetings were also held at Sangaldan, Dharam and Sumber in Gool area.
District administration appreciated and lauded the role of general public for maintaining peace and tranquility in the district and assured that genuine grievances of the people will be redressed. The administration has also asked the members of peace committees to be vigilant and spare no effort in ensuring peace in the area.
