Ramnavmi celebrated in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Apr 19: Ramnavmi was today celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety throughout the Kashmir Valley. The largest procession was carried out at Shri Ram Ji Mandir, Barbar Shah in the City while devotees carried out a Janki procession from Kathleshwar Mandir Tankipora, Habba Kadal.
Hundreds of devotees thronged the Mandir, where they recited Bhajans and prayed for peace and prosperity. The pandits were dancing and chanting sermons.
“The largest possession was witnessed at Kathleshwar Mandir Tankipora, Habbakadal, which moved to Kral Khud, Rani Mandir, Regal Chowk, Lal Chowk, Hanuman Mandir at Hari Singh High Street and Jahangir Chowk and finally culminated at Kathleshwar Mandir again,” HWSK spokesman, Chuni Lal said.
The Hindu Welfare Society Kashmir (HWSK) had organized the daylong celebrations at the Mandir. The welfare society also organized a special Puja Havan (Maha Yagya) as mark of the birthday of Lord Shri Ram Ji.
People, including Kashmiri pandits, women, and children, in colourful dresses were seen visiting Ram temples since early this morning in different parts of the Valley.
On the way, the Pandits distributed fruits among the Muslim brothers. Muslims and Sikhs were also seen greeting their pandit members on the occasion.
