NAGROTA,  Oct 8: As part of his initiative to hold free medical camps in each of the Panchayat of Nagrota Assembly Constituency on weekly basis, National Conference provincial president and MLA,   Devender Singh Rana said that this was  a humble effort to ensure health for all.
“The purpose is to sanitize the people about various diseases, as many of them get to know about their health status only when their conditions get precarious”, Mr Rana said while inaugurating free eye camp at Lower Rangoora in Panchayat Sidhra.
The camp was organized by Centre for Eyesight. Last week cardio-camp was held at Tawi Vihar in Sidhra. The next weekly camp will be held in Khanpur Panchayat on October 15, 2016, as a series of MLA’s initiative.
Mr Rana said that the voluntary effort would  go a long way in reaching out to the people virtually at their door-steps. “General awareness and regular check-up can help fight various maladies and ensuring a disease-free society,” he said and lauded the overwhelming response of the medical fraternity, para-medics and various other organizations related to the field in such voluntary initiatives.
The MLA Nagrota said the people of remote areas, especially old, women and children need constant check-ups and monitoring. To ensure this, he said he will make his humble effort to make available various facilities at all the places in a phased manner in conjunction with philanthropic agencies.
Referring to the free eye-camp, the provincial president said this will help people to identify deficiencies so that they can have specialized treatment in the health institutions on regular basis. He said eye check-up is pivotal part of health maintenance, as this helps to check for early signs of any disease. “For children, eye examination is all the more important to insure normal vision development while old people can get timely benefitted by various diseases, especially the cataract”, he said, hoping that holding of such camps will benefit all segments of society.
In all, 187 patients were examined during the camp, who were prescribed medicines and advised glasses, wherever necessary. Dr. Sudesh Raina conducted the Camp.
