Rana expresses concern over notice to people for vacating land

POONCH, Apr 8: President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Pirpanjal, Javed Ahmed Rana has expressed serious concern over the J&K Govt’s spree of issuing notices to the farmers and households directing them to vacate the land and houses under their possession despite the coming into existence of ‘Forest Rights Act’ for their welfare.
In a statement issued here today, the senior NC leader said, “It is quite unfortunate that the people have been asked to vacate ‘Forest and Custodian’ land in substantial areas of the J&K and I do hereby ask the Administration led by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha that what is the purpose of ‘Forest Rights Act (FRA)’ if people are being asked to vacate the lands?”
He asserted that these people have been residing in these areas for the past over 70 years and now the Govt has started asking them to vacate the land and properties in their possession.
Expressing anguish over the developments, Rana said that on one hand Govt is making tall claims about ensuring unhindered enjoyment of all the rights to the common masses while on the other hand Govt is issuing notices for vacating of their houses. “Such attitude of LG administration raises doubts about the real intention of the Government,” he said.
He warned the Government against playing with the sentiments of the people and demanded that the notices issued to the people be immediately withdrawn and all the necessary measures be initiated to grant the legal rights to the lands and houses in their possession under the Forest Rights Act.
