MENDHAR, Mar 30: Jammu Kashmir National Conference Pir Panjal Zone president and former MLA Javed Ahmed Rana today reiterated the demand of establishment of Truth and Reconciliation Commission to unravel truth behind Kasmiri Pandits’ exodus from Valley in 1990s.
Toeing the party line, the NC leader said that the ruling party BJP wanted people to believe what is being showcased by selected few individuals in their private commercial venture (Movie)- `The Kashmir Files’, which is arbitrary and unreasonable, rather the government should take a logical step by constituting a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to look into the circumstances that led to such a tragic exodus of the entire Kashmiri Pandit community from the Valley.
Rana said that the issue is not only of Kashmiri Pandits sufferings but the death and destruction which the security forces’ personnel and rest of the civilians who belonged to other communities including Sikhs, Muslims, etc faced should also be brought to fore as 1990s was the darkest era in the history of Kashmir and the attempt by BJP led Government to paint it as a conspiracy against only one community is not only unjustified but a sham to be uncovered before the people of the country.
“The BJP government instead of working as PR Company of Cinema Production House should do some real work for the safe and dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits to Valley, which is missing on ground despite BJP trumpeting the same day and night,” Rana said while addressing a public gathering wherein a large number of young political activists came under the NC’s party fold and took pledge to work for strengthening the party.
Welcoming the new entrants to party, Rana said that NC has a glorious past wherein its leadership has given gigantic support to people belonging to all shades of life without any prejudice and discrimination but the party which is in power today knows nothing beyond dividing the society in the name of religion, ethnicity and caste.
