NAGROTA, July 14: Provincial President National Conference and Member Legislative Assembly, Nagrota Devender Singh Rana today called on General Officer Commanding XVI Corps Lt Gen K H Singh and lauded the role of the Army in helping civilian population of Nagrota Constituency in terms of supplementing facilities under its Civic Action Plan and providing necessary assistance at the hour of need.
Mr Rana highlighted the crucial importance of civil-military liaison and hoped that the Army will continue to assist the people and help in mitigating their problems with regard to various day to day issues.
He brought to the notice of GOC several issues facing to the people of his Constituency residing in the vicinity of the army formations which, inter allia, include grant of permission for allowing the construction and renovation of houses adjoining the Ammunition Depot at Panchayat Kanyala and the Ban village, jobs to the local youth in the Depot, vacation of PHE Station comprising Operator quarter, Pump room and Sump Tank at National Highway in Nadore to the PHE Department so that water supply scheme for Bantalab could be commissioned and drinking water facility provided to over 1000 souls.
He also sought widening of road from Beleni Bridge to village Ban for smooth pedestrian and vehicular movement, which he said requires relocation of the barbered wire of the Ammunition Depot.
Mr Rana stressed the need for a separate entry point for Khanpur Graveyard and hoped the Army will take immediate initiative in this regard as the people are required to have a smooth passage for undertaking last rites of the deceased people and offering Fateh on various occasions.
During one and half hour meeting, the MLA called for the Army’s support in beautification of Nagrota under Civic Action Programme, saying this will help in further synergizing relations between the army and the civilian population. He appreciated the Army for reaching out to people and supplementing various utility services to enhance their quality of life.
General Singh assured Mr Rana that the points raised during the meeting would be earnestly examined for appropriate action and said the Army attaches immense significance to its relations with the civilian population.
