POONCH, Nov 30: Senior National Conference leader and Party president Pir Panjal Zone, Javed Rana has accused the Border Roads Organization (BRO) of total failure in proper maintenance and repair of the road network falling under their jurisdiction in the Pir Panjal zone.
Rana said that all the roads in the zone are lying in a deplorable condition and urged the BRO authorities to take serious note of the issue and improve the condition of these roads before the harsh winters.
In a statement issued to the Press here today, the senior NC leader said that Bhimber Gali– Bolnoi Road falling in Mendhar Tehsil continues to be in a highly dilapidated condition since long. It is an irony that despite the J&K Govt having handed over this road to PMGSY with writing endorsing that Rs 80 crore was sanctioned and released for construction of the same road after due tendering process but BRO is not allowing construction of this road most probably due to some malafide intentions on the part of its officers.
The senior NC leader mentioned that he has created a good road network in the Pir Panjal zone. Hundreds of kilometers of roads were constructed under PMGSY and NABARD in Mankote, Balakote, Mendhar and other sub divisions but due to callous attitude of adopted by BRO this BG- Bolnoi Road was not constructed till date due to which people are facing huge problems. He maintained that BRO has always created problems while issuing NOCs related to construction of roads falling in the Pir Panjal zone.
He also raised the issue of road from Jaran Wali Gali to Krishna Ghati. This road is also being constructed by BRO which has also not been completed till date. He said that the construction of this road is the central place of Mendhar, Surankote and Haveli Assembly Constituencies and from tourism point of view also, the early construction of this road is very important. Rana sought intervention of Lt Governor into the matter.
