Rana seeks hostels for Gujjar Bakerwal, SC students in Nagrota

NAGROTA Nov 17: National Conference Provincial President and MLA Nagrota Devender Singh Rana on today sought separate hostels boys and girls, belonging to Gujjar and Bakerwal besides Scheduled Caste, and Other Barckward communities, enabling them to ornament themselves with higher and professional education.
Interacting with various depuations of the Constituency, which called on him this morning, Rana said need for such a facility is being felt more with the area turning out an educational hub. He said the recent opening of a degree college has necessitated such hostels all the more, as the students will be seeking admissions for higher learning.
The MLA Nagrota said outreach of educational facilities to remote areas should be supplemented by boarding and lodging facilities for the students, which will enable them concentrate on their studies without the cumbersome loss of time in traveling etc.
He urged the Governor Satya Pal Malik to have the proposal for such hostel facilities examined on immediate basis so that the benefit of the new college percolates down to the targeted segments of society.
“Lack of hostels may deprive many students from getting ornamented with the higher education”, Rana said and assured that the matter will be taken up at appropriate level.
He also seized this opportunity in expressing his gratitude to the Governor for approving a Degree College for Nagrota, saying this will go a long way in ornamenting the youth of higher education at their door-step.
He said the people of Nagrota are indebted to the Governor for conceding to the request, which is exemplary and praise-worthy. He said many of boys and girls were feeling constrained either to abandon their studies midway or face lot many difficulties in pursuing degree course far away in Jammu. He said the youth of Nagrota constituency are enterprising, who will use this facility for shaping their academic career in a big way.
Later, a deputation of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, led by Chief Executive Councillor Feroz Khan called on the Provincial President. Rana congratulated Khan and his team and hoped that they will serve the people of Kargil with best of their capabilities.
