JAMMU, June 25 National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today expressed grave concern over widespread complaints and allegations against the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission and sought a thorough probe into these for restoring the impartiality and credibility of the institution.
Interacting with a group of aggrieved candidates, who called on him here this evening to seek his indulgence in getting their grievances redressed, Rana said that pending enquiry the Commission should be reconstituted to restore the trust and confidence of the educated unemployed of the State.
He said allegations of omissions and commissions of very serious nature have been leveled against several functionaries of the Commission, which has cast shadow over the integrity and credibility of the entire institution and there is crucial need of investigating the charges so that those found guilty are punished per law.
“The PSC cannot afford to remain mired into controversies as it is the last hope for enterprising, talented and educated youngsters of this sensitive State”, Rana said, adding that there is need for instilling a higher degree of confidence among the youth in this premier institution. This, he said, can be achieved when the PSC is not only a fair organization but appear to be so also.
He regretted that the Commission has not done enough to dispel apprehensions among the youth in the wake of growing allegations with regard to selections for various categories of posts and holding the competitive examination thus further compounding fears and doubts about its impartiality.
In such a scenario, he said, it is imperative for the PSC as well to pave the way for thorough investigations into all sorts of complaints and allegations. “And if any of these allegations are found genuine, the guilty need to be punished and course corrections made to ensure such discrepancies don’t recur”, Rana said.
The Provincial President hoped that the designated authorities would take an urgent call on the allegations and complaints and order immediate probe by a competent authority. “This will go a long way in restoring faith and confidence of youth in the PSC”, he added.
