JAMMU, Jan 3: Exhorting the just elected National Conference Councillors of District Development Councils to rededicate themselves to public service and holistic development of their respective areas, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today hoped they will come up to the expectations of people, who have reposed their immense faith in them.
“The massive mandate, especially in the Jammu region, is peoples’ acknowledgement to selfless contribution of the National Conference and development undertaken during different spells of governance with a sense of commitment”, the Provincial President said while interacting with a delegation from Kalakote Assembly Constituency led by District President Rajouri, Bhushan Uppal, which called on him here this afternoon.
Rana described the recent vote as a healthy sign of democracy on a positive note with people preferring progress and development over misgovernance and developmental inertia and inclusiveness in politics rather than divisive and myopic political agenda. This was the vote against wedge created between various segments of the society, he added.
“The best part of democracy is people reposing trust and giving mandate to political parties with the hope of their welfare and development and at the same time punishing them too if they fail to deliver”, Rana said.
The Provincial President said the National Conference believes in service to the people, irrespective of caste, creed or religion, as they were the real fountainhead of the power. Unmindful of achieving the power, the party cadre has all along dedicated itself to the overall public good in all the regions and sub-regions of Jammu and Kashmir and it will continue to do so in future as well with renewed vigour and commitment. This, he said, should be the agenda of the party Councillors while discharging their duties as elected representatives of the people.
Rana congratulated the Councillors and praised them for their resilience in carrying out a vigorous but peaceful campaign in the recent elections. This has indeed won the hearts of the people, who know that it is only the National Conference which can meet the challenges faced to Jammu and Kashmir and steer it to the path of peace, progress and development. He also urged them, as also to the cadre, to reach out to the people and work for strengthening brotherhood and amity.
The delegation comprised three elected Councillors of the Kalakote area of the district, Mrs Anita Thakur from Kalakote, Mr Rameshwar Singh from Dhangri and Mrs Shamim Begum, besides Vijay Suri Municipal Chairman Kakalote, Maqbool Hussain BDC Dhangri, Yashvardhan Singh Constituency representative Kalakote, Manzoor Malik District Vice President, Ashok Sharma, Block President Kalakote, Rattan Sharma, Sarpanch Dhramshal, Ramkrishan Sarpanch Potha, Narijna Singh, Sarpanch, Dogar Nath, Sarpanch Bravi, Tilak Raj, Sarpanch Kullian, Salma Begum ,Sarpanch, Ashok Sharma, Er.
