Rana travels in Jmu-Udhampur DMU, says service imperative for employees

MANWAL NAGROTA, Dec 31: To welcome the resumption of Jammu Tawi- Udhampur Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) on immediate basis, National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana travelled from Jammu Railway Station up to the stopover of Manwal in Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
Rana was given a rousing reception by the people and commuters at the stop-over, as a mark of gratitude for taking up the issue with National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah, who eventually met the Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on 26 December 2018 and pitched strongly its resumption while emphasizing its significance for the commuters.
Rana while interacting with the people at Manwal stop-over said the credit for resuming this important rail service goes to Dr Farooq Abdullah, who appreciated the need of the commuters and immediately raised the issue with the Union Railway Minister.
The 53 kilometer Jammu-Udhampur railways stretch has almost emerged as life line for the commuters, especially the Government employees besides enroute passengers mostly in Nagrota constituency who travel on the route on daily basis.
He also referred to steps taken in the past in getting several stop-overs enroute Udhampur, especially the Nagrota Assembly Constituency, saying a credible communication link is imperative for the employees, students and those commuting on daily basis as part of their economic activities.
The former MLA Nagrota said that National Conference has all along espoused the cause of the people and since the instant issue pertained to large number of people in the capital city as also Udhampur, this needed to be resolved on immediate basis.
At Jammu Railway Station and inside the DMU many people met Rana and expressed their gratitude for making its resumption possible. They narrated the difficulties they encountered during the period of its suspension.
