Randhawa accesses losses in flood affected areas

JAMMU, July 5: Former MLC and senior BJP leader, Vikram Randhawa here today toured the flood affected areas to get first-hand information about losses caused to life and property due to deluge.
He visited flood hit areas of Bahu Assembly Segment in Ward no. 49, to access the damage caused to residential houses in the area due to incessant rains.
The BJP leader directed officers of the concerned department to assess the situation and come out with solutions for immediately restoring the affected areas and preventing further damages.
He voiced for a close vigil on the situation and appropriate measures to deal with any exigency.
Randhawa was informed that the concerned department was regularly monitoring the situation and forces have been kept on alert for immediately responding to any untoward incident.
He directed for short and long term steps including erecting of concrete embankments before monsoons to prevent floods and asked the engineers to identify the areas prone to floods and prepare DPRs for plugging the gaps.
The BJP leader appealed to the general public not to venture close to river Tawi and directed JMC and other departments to remove encroachments.
“List of rain hit people will be made and it will be submitted to the concerned Departments for redressal,” he continued.
