Randhawa demands probe into washing away of Dharap bridge

JAMMU, Sept 4: Former Member Legislative Council, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, while kick-starting alternate road to Dharap and its adjoining areas has demanded probe into washing away of Dharap bridge just eleven years of its construction.
Randhawa, who had visited the area earlier, after Dharap bridge was washed away in floods due to incessant rains on August 25 and 26 disconnecting Dharap and other adjoining areas from the Jammu city, had taken up the matter with PWD authorities and suggested an alternate road from Jogi Mohalla to Kunjwani that will provide connectivity to the area.
Today work on the alternate road has been kick-started by Ch. Vikram Randhawa. While speaking on the occasion Randhawa urged upon the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, to order a probe into the washing away of the Dharap bridge. Randhawa said that the bridge was constructed just eleven years back and alleged that sub-standard material was used in its construction. He urged the Lt Governor to probe the role of all officials and others, if any, and fix responsibility in looting exchequer.
Randhawa further assured the people of the area that BJP is committed to provide all round development to the people and road connectivity is one among basic amenities. He said that the bridge would also be constructed as soon as possible but till then alternate road has been provided to the area that will connect directly with Jammu city.
The locals of the areas have appreciated the sincere efforts of the former MLC is resolving their road connectivity issue within days and extended full support to the BJP in coming future.
