JAMMU, June 3: Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa, today conducted a tour to Govindpura and Azad Nagar area adjoining to Chatha in Gandhi Nagar constituency.
While touring the area the locals raked up the demand for the partial repair and new construction of the nallah passing through the locality before the MLC and highlighted the problems being faced by them particularly during rainy season.
Randhawa paying heed to the just and genuine demand of the local residents immediately announced to release Rs 4.70 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and directed the Flood Control and Irrigation Department to repair the nallah before the onset of the Monsoon.
The MLC also assured them to provide more funds, if required, for the completion of the nallah so that the public do not suffer any more. He said that it was a long pending demand of the local public and lamented the previous regimes for ignoring this putting the health and lives of the people at risk.
Randhawa said that the nallah witnesses massive floods during rainy season and the water enters the houses of the local populace and a risk of spreading an epidemic always persists. He said that the public which pays taxes for their welfare deserves better amenities.
He urged upon the people to remain aware from those who play vote bank politics for petty gains and assured them of bringing an all round development of the area. He said that BJP is committed to carry forward the slogan of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’ irrespective of caste colour and creed.
Those who accompanied the MLC during his tour to the area include Ashok Khajuria, Pitamber Sharma, Paras Ram, Ch. Harbans Lal, Charan Singh, Devi Dayal, Mukhtiyar Singh and Paramjit Singh.
