Randhawa led delegation of SHGs Engineers meets Advisor

JAMMU, Oct 9: A delegation of Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Engineers led by former MLC, Ch. Vikram Randhawa today called upon R.R Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor J&K.
Randhawa during interaction with the Advisor said an order was issued by General Administration Department on August 10 abolishing the practice of reserving a proportion of projects for SHGs of engineers while reorganization of the engineering staff. He said that the decision was taken by the Administrative Council, headed by former Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu, on August 4.
The former MLC apprised the Advisor that these engineers were unemployed and to generate employment opportunities for them a scheme to reserve work in various departments was launched under which these SHGs of Engineers were formed due to which such engineers were earning their livelihood.
He said with the announcement of disbanding of these SHGs the administration has rendered thousands of people jobless and thousands others dependent on them are at the verge of starvation.
He apprised the Advisor that the matter was taken up with the Lt Governor after which a Committee to review the decision of was constituted which is being headed by the Advisor Bhatnagar himself.
Randhawa urged upon the Advisor to submit the findings of the Committee soon so that these engineers may heave a sigh of relief.
A handout stated that about 15,000 engineers across J&K were rendered jobless due to the disbanding order.
Jag Paul Singh, Zaheer Abbas, Ravinder Satti and Rakesh Mengi were also present in the delegation.
