Randhawa raises problems of stone crushers with LG

JAMMU, Nov 11: A delegation of Stone Crusher Owners Association (SCOA) led by former Member Legislative Council (MLC) and president, SCOA, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, today called on the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha and discussed various issues pertaining to the stone crusher industry.
During his meeting with the Lt Governor, the president of SCOA informed that the stone crushers in Jammu and Kashmir are registered with District Industry Centres (DICs) and intends to pay royalty directly to the Geology and Mining Department instead of paying it through middlemen i.e., mining mafia. He said that it is astonishing that the Department of Geology and Mining itself in creating hurdles in the smooth functioning of this industry which is at the verge of collapse. He also informed the Lt Governor that the implementation of SRO 302 is unnecessary harassment to the units which were established before 2017. He sought the intervention and necessary directions of the Lt Governor in this regard to the Department of Geology and Mining.
He further informed the Lt Governor that the stone crusher industry plays an important role in providing construction material and closure of this industry would impact the ongoing development process in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lt Governor assured redressal of all genuine demands. Those who were part of the delegation included Vijay Sharma, Dev Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sharma.
