Randhawa takes stock of problems of unit holders at SICOP

JAMMU, May 23: Newly elected Member of Legislative Council (MLC), Ch Vikram Randhawa, today chaired a meeting of the officials of the SICOP at Gangyal and took stock of the problems being faced by the unit holders.
During the meeting, Rajan Sharma, Project Manager, SICOP Gangyal and his team took up various issues pertaining to the small scale industries with the MLC. Sharma apprised the MLC that SICOP has a total land of 988 kanals at Gangyal over which 336 units are functional since 1972. He also apprised that nearly 66 industrial units are sick due to various reasons.
While deliberating, Sharma took up the matter of poor electricity infrastructure with the MLC. He said that despite repeated requests made to various quarters nothing has been done so far to improve the electricity scenario in the industrial area which is the backbone for an industry to function.
Randhawa directed the officials of the electricity department present in the meeting, to make all the street light and high mast lights of the area functional within a week otherwise strict action will be taken against the officials responsible.
Later, the MLC inspected the laboratory of the industrial units and found it in good condition. He expressed his satisfaction and urged upon the entrepreneurs to produce quality products. He said that quality should not be compromised at any cost.
He also visited the Public Health Center (PHC), Industrial Complex Gangyal and found doctors performing their duties efficiently. He also directed them to provide best available healthcare to the industrial workers as well as the locals visiting this health centre.
