Randhawa for timely completion of PWD projects

JAMMU, May 25: A high-level meeting of the officials of the Public Works Department (PWD), Division-1, was chaired today by Ch. Vikram Randhawa, MLC, at PWD Guest House here, today.
During the meeting threadbare discussion was held regarding the developmental plan of the Division-1 for the year 2017-18 in which, Rajan Mengi, Executive Engineer of the Department briefed the Member Legislative Council thoroughly. He apprised the MLC regarding various ongoing developmental projects in Division-1.
While addressing the meeting Ch. Vikram stressed upon the officials of the Department to complete all the ongoing projects within the stipulated time frame and also directed for macadamization of roads before the onset of the rainy season. Issues pertaining to various bridges particularly the Bandu Rakh bridge that connects Kunjwani with Bishnah and caters a vast area was also discussed. The officials assured the MLC that the work over the bridge is in final stage and would be dedicated to the public before the onset of the rainy season.
Ch. Vikram while addressing the officials of the Department laid stress to accomplish all the projects under the plan for the year 2017-18 within stipulated time period. He directed the officials to expedite the process of the macadamisation so that it can be completed before the onset of the Monsoon which is set to knock the State any time next month. He said that the BJP Government is committed to provide better road connectivity to the public and also to fulfill the promises made during the election.
He also directed the officials to ensure that no compromise is made with the quality of the material used for the longevity of the roads and bridges.
Meanwhile the MLC led a deputation of various organizations of refugees to Divisional Commissioner Jammu and discussed their problems with him.
The delegations comprised of refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 besides the various Sikh organizations including Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Sewa Society, AISSF and Sikh Welfare Society.
Randhwa urged the Divisional Commissioner that the powers for issuance of legal heir certificates be delegated to Naib tehsildars and tehsildars so that the refugees are not put to problems.
The delegation informed the Divisional Commissioner that 175 cases have been settled on pick and choose basis which should be stopped immediately The delegation also discussed varies issues with Divisional Commissioner.
