JAMMU, Jan 16: Former Minister and NCP State president, Thakur Randhir Singh has demanded from the Municipal Corporation of Jammu to provide market to the growers of Brocilli and other organic vegetables so that the farmers can sell their produce and get better prices without the interference of middlemen.
While talking to a group of progressive farmers, who called on him, Mr Singh regretted
that SKUAST-Jammu and State Agriculture Department have miserably failed to organize local farmers to impart training in the field of farmers. “SKUAST-Jammu has totally failed in producing the best seeds of various crops in Jammu division and also in Veterinary field since its inception,” he said and further alleged  while  most of the Vice Chancellors of SKUAST-Jammu  have  come from other fields and they did not  contribute anything for the development of paddy, wheat, vegetable, fruits, sugarcane, oilseeds, etc.
Mr Singh also appealed Governor N N Vohra to appoint a commission of enquiry to find out why the farmers were  not getting better hybrid seeds and full support from the SKUAST scientists.
