KATHUA, Jan 11: Police Sports Festival organized by Kathua Police concluded here today.
Rafiq-Ul-Hassan, DIG JSK Range was the chief guest on the concluding function.
While speaking on the occasion, DIG said that sports is the key to physical and mental fitness and strengthen one to face challenges in life.
He also lauded the efforts of Suleman Choudhary, SSP Kathua and Kathua Police for organizing mega Sports Festival to boost young talent of the District.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Sanjay Parihar, JKPS Additional SP Kathua, S. Tajinder Singh, Vice Principal PTS Kathua, Parul Bhardwaj DySP DAR DPL Kathua, SDPOs of District Police Kathua and other police officers/officials.
Subash Chander Bhardwaj, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua was the special invitee on the occasion.
SSP Kathua apprised DIG Jammu about the prime motive of Police Sports Festival was to align the youth in progressive directions through such sports events and keep them away from any intoxication and other social abuses which hamper their progress in life.
Meanwhile, on the final day of the sports festival, the matches of Tug of War (Boys), competition of Shot Put (Boys) and Javelin Throw (Girls) were played between the Under-19 age group Teams/Players of District Kathua.
The 1st match of Tug of War was played between St. Xavier Convent School Kathua and High School Parliwand Kathua, in which St. Xavier Convent School Kathua registered win, while in 2nd match of Tug of War, the Team of Mahi Chack defeated Bawani Club in a close contest.
The final match of Tug of War was played between Tug of War Team Mahi Chack and St. Xavier Convent School Kathua. Team Mahi Chack won the final by 2-0 sets.
In Shot Put boys category, Younis Ali stood 1st; Murad Ali bagged 2nd spot and Bhag Hussain claimed 3rd place.
In Javelin Throw girls category, Gitika Devi stood 1st, Razeena Akhtar 2nd and Anita Devi claimed 3rd place.
The matches of Cricket (Boys), Volleyball (Boys), Volleyball (Girls), Football (Boys), Kho-Kho (Girls), Tug of War (Boys) were played between the Under-19 teams of District Kathua.
In addition to this, Athletic meets like Race (200 Mtrs, Boys), Race (100 Mtrs, Girls) Shotput (Boys/Girls) Javelin Throw (Girls) were also organized in DPL Ground.
The chief guest and other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners on the occasion.
DySP (Prob), Ummer Rashid conducted the proceedings of the programme and presented vote of thanks.
