KATRA, Feb 29: As a hardcore criminal, booked for rape and murder of a 9-year old girl, escaped from the Police lock up in Katra Police Station, the SSP Reasi has ordered suspension of an Assistant Sub-Inspector and two cops on the duty.
The accused Pawan Kumar, involved in FIR 16/16 u/s 302, 364, 376 of Police station Katra, escaped from the Police custody early today after he pretended to go for attending nature’s call inside the Police Station premises, said SSP Reasi, Sujit Kumar.
Three cops, including an ASI, posted at Police Station Katra, have been placed under suspension after the rape accused escaped from police custody early Monday, the SSP added.
The suspended ASI was identified as Sharif and two other cops as Sentry Vikram Singh and SGCT Chunni Lal. An FIR vide number US 223 /224 RPC has been registered in this connection at Police Station Katra.
Immediately after the matter came into light, the SSP constituted three special teams, which conducted series of raids to apprehend the accused. However, no success was made till the last reports came in.
It is pertinent to mention here that the escaped accused Pawan Kumar and other three hardcore criminals, involved in the gang rape and murder of a 9-year old girl, had been arrested by Katra police three days back. The arrested accused have confessed that they kidnapped the minor girl on January 24-25 and killed her after gang rape.
The nine-year old girl of Pahar Gunj area of Katra town had gone missing on January 24-25, 2016 and on 8th of February, her body was found in a small rivulet in the town.
