Rape accused arrested 11 days after escape

SAMBA, Feb 16: Bari Brahmana Police has arrested the rape accused Ravi Kumar, son of Varyam Singh of Raipur Satwari who had fled from the Police Station Bari Brahmana after giving a slip to cops on duty on February 5 and was evading arrest till date from Sarore area of Bari Brahmana today.
As per reports he was arrested by a team of police from Sarore near Bari Brahmana today. The SSP Samba, Shakti Pathak had constituted many teams to re-arrest him soon after he fled from custody on February 5 and the police teams conducted raids at his suspected hideouts in Delhi and neighboring Punjab but to no avail. Later he was arrested from Sarore by a police team led by SHO, Bari Brahmana, Inspector Rajesh Jasrotia 11 days after his escape.
A fresh FIR 24/2020 under Section 223/224 IPC has been registered against him by Bari Brahmana Police.
Earlier he was arrested under FIR No 15/2020 U/S 363/376 IPC , 3/4 POCSO Act but following his escape fresh charges were registered under him police said.
It may be recalled that soon after his escape from custody four cops including a Duty Officer, two Munshis and a sentry were arrested and placed under suspension by the Department and a Departmental inquiry was initiated to ascertain the reasons for his escape from the police custody.
