Rape accused shot dead in J&K town

SRINAGAR:
Suspected militants tonight shot dead a man – a rape accused out on bail – in the Bijbehara hometown of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Javaid Ahmad Waza was shot at by militants when he was at his home at Bijbehara, police said.
Waza was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to injuries, a police official said.
The 35-year-old man was arrested by police in September last year in connection with a rape case and has been out on bail since January this year, the official said.
Bijbehara in Anantnag district is the native town of the state Chief Minister. (AGENCIES)
