JAMMU, Feb 8: Kanachack police arrested a rapist, who was evading his arrest after outraging the modesty of minor girl in Lalyal area around one week back.
As per police sources, a 14-year-girl hailing from Lalyal area had gone to attend nature call, when a youth of the same area identified as Sahil Sharma, son of Ram Lal overpowered her and raped her on February 3.
He threatened the girl of dire consequence, if she revealed the incident to anyone and escaped from the spot.
The girl after mustering courage narrated the ordeal to her mother, who lodged a complaint with police.
A case under Section 376 RPC has been registered at Kanachack police station and manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
During investigation, a team from Kanchack police station conducted series of raids and finally arrested the accused.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Kanachack police station Rakesh Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Domana SK Sharma, SP Rural Rajiv Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
