Rashid threatens stir

SRINAGAR, Aug 12:  Independent MLA and president of Awami Itehad Party (AIP) Abdul Rashid today threatened strike across the region if Government of India doesn’t agree to his demand of establishing IIT, IIM and IIMC in Kashmir valley.
Rashid and his supporters concluded their 50-hour long sit-in today outside the Civil Secretariat as they are seeking IIT, IIM and IIMC for Valley.
While threatening stir, the MLA from Langate Constituency of Kupwara district, said: “We will hold consultations with trade, transport, social and other religious organizations to come out with a joint strategy.”
Rashid asked Central Government to agree to the “genuine demand” of establishing IIT, IIM and IIMC in Kashmir or “be prepared to face a mass public movement and agitation from Karnah to Qazigund”.
