JAMMU, July 8: Commissioner Secretary, Hospitality & Protocol Department, Dr Rashmi Singh, today convened a Public Darbar at Surinsar, providing a platform for the public to voice issues and concerns.
She was accompanied by Additional District Development Commissioner Jammu, Sher Singh besides other senior officers.
The Public Darbar addressed various concerns including the need for medical staff, issues with power transmission lines and road projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and Public Works Department (PWD).
Dr Rashmi Singh reviewed the status of various infrastructure projects being funded under different schemes. She also took stock of the ongoing monkey menace troubling the area.
“These public outreach programmes help the administration take stock of public grievances at their doorsteps besides assessing ongoing development works. Regular follow up of public issues by the concerned officers is essential for prompt redressal besides having in place enhanced coordination among all the departments,” asserted Dr Rashmi Singh.
She emphasised the importance of public participation in decision making besides effective implementation of development works. She asked the officers to ensure that the public is sensitised about their rights and various Government schemes.
“Public Darbars crucially helping in bridging the gap between the administration and the public. We are committed towards ensuring that the voices of the citizens are heard and their issues addressed promptly”, she maintained.
The event was attended by BDC Chairman, Kuldeep Raj and other public representatives besides officers including Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, Tehsildar Jammu Khas Paramdeep Singh and BDO Nagrota among other district officials.
