Rather rolls out computerization of CT check-post

JAMMU, Apr 9: Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affair Abdul Rahim Rather today rolled out computerization of check post of Commercial Taxes Department at Toll Plaza Lakhanpur, known as the Gate-way to J&K.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rather said that computerization of the check post will provide much needed relief to the business and traders community by way of bouquet of services, enabling them to transact and deal with the department without direct interface with the office functionaries. The facility will not only save the precious time of traders but also bring transparency through 24×7 on line convenient facility to the traders.
The online facility will also increase the comfort level of the traders in their transactions with the department besides providing  access to the registered taxpayer for information about their own registration details, history of returns (VAT & CST return filing), electronic payments, one  line facility for submission of Forms for Registration under VAT, facility for making tax payments electronically  via Banks, facility for obtaining new Registration ( TIN) electronically and facility for filing e- returns. He said the computerization of the check post will also provide facilities to the traders for filing check post Declarations Electronically for inter-State Trade and e-communication with the department.
The Excise Commissioner, Vineeta Gupta, Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Kifayat Rizvi, District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Jitindira Kumar, Addl Commissioner Commercial Taxes, P Khateeb, Deputy Commissioner Excise & Taxation, Toll Post, Lakhanpur, Mushtaq Ahmed, SSP, Kathua Z.N. Manhas and concerned offices of the Excise and Commercial Taxes Departments were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Mr. Rizvi and Mr. Khateeb while giving a Power Point Presentation explained salient features of the Primary, Secondary and Key modules of the computerization project put in place by the department and its future benefits in revenue recovery and checking of Tax Evasion attempts.
