Ration dealer beaten up by public

MENDHAR, Apr 4:  A Government ration dealer was severely beaten up by irate public for denying ‘atta’ and sugar  to the APL rationees for the month of March in tehsil Mendhar today.
Reports said ration dealer Ishtiaq Ahmed Mir of  CAPD ration depot at village Kottan in Mendhar, was hospitalized at Mendhar  after he was allegedly beaten up by the public today. The villagers alleged that he was denying them ration for the last  month on the plea that TSO Mendhar had not issued him ration quota. The APL ration card holders were taking rounds of the ration depot for the last several weeks but they were not being provided ration by the dealer.
There had been heated exchanges of  the dealer with the public on the ration issue today. Alleging black-marketing of ration quota of public in connivance with the CAPD field staff of the area, the public went violent  and started beating up dealer with kicks and blows. He was pulled outside and thrown down the depot. Later, with multiple injuries, the dealer was removed to Mendhar Hospital, the victim  has lodged written complaint with the police against some individuals. The police was investigating. The local administration has also taken cognizance of the matter.
