JAMMU, Feb 25: The ration dealers from various areas held protest at Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department, here today.
Large number of ration dealers assembled outside CAPD Office near Paloura here and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
Addressing the gathering, Prabhu Dayal Sharma, President, Fair Price Shop Ration Dealers Association, Jammu said that the CAPD Department is not releasing the pending ration for the month of January including 13000 quintals atta despite depositing the amount.
He added that till today, CAPD Department is not depositing the amount of February from them, due to which they are facing problems.
“The record compiled under National Food Security Act (NFSA) by the Department is incorrect and needed to be reviewed”, he said and appealed to the Department to clear the backlog for the convenience of the ration dealers in general and local people in particular.
“We are not against the NFSA, but demand the lists prepared by the department under NFSA so that the ration depot owners can satisfy the people according to it”, he said, adding that if the department could not provide them lists, then the department should issue ration of February month at par with January, till the time the department reviews the lists.
Mohan Lal, Chairman, Sanjay Abrol, general secretary, Ajay Sharma, senior vice president and Daljit Singh, vice president also addressed the gathering.
