JAMMU, Apr 3: The ration dealers of Jammu district today held strong protest outside the office of Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs at Ware House, here today in support of their demand of releasing their pending commission of three years.
The ration dealers under the banner of Fair Price Shop Dealers Association (J&K UT), assembled in the office of Director, FCS&CA, near Asia Crossing and held protest demonstration.
President of the Association, Ajay Gupta and president City Ration Dealers Association Sanjay Abrol were leading. They alleged that Department has miserably failed to clear their commission worth crores of the last three years. Not only in Jammu region, in Kashmir also the Ration dealers are suffering.
They said the senior officers of the Department had assured that their pending dues will be cleared before March 2024 but this financial year has also closed but the FCS&CA Department has failed to clear the liability worth crores of the Ration dealers on the mere plea that they have not received Central share.
Several senior leaders addressed the gathering and claimed that dealers will suspend operation at Fair Price Shops for indefinite period if their issue was not resolved within a week.
Later, the senior Association members met the Director FCS&CA, who assured that they have not received fund from the Secretariat as and when the funds are received their dues will be cleared. The Director also assured to take up the issue with the Administrative Secretary.
