Ration distribution using biometric dangerous during Covid-19: Cong

JAMMU, Oct 17: Amidst Coronavirus pandemic when number of positive cases and deaths are on rise; the Government is hell bent to implement diverse laws and regulations on people knowing that the suffering people could not publically oppose.
This was stated by former minister Mula Ram and DCC Rural president Hari Singh Chib in a joint statement issued here today against the distribution of PDS Ration through biometric system.
“People have already facing the wrath of unprecedented Covid-19 crisis, besides mere healthcare facilities are being provided by the Government and upon this the Government is implementing ration distribution through biometric, the joint statement read.
“People including youth are already facing severe problems due to job losses, unemployment, flash floods and other uncountable issues,” Mula Ram said and added that the BJP led government had has always imposed the anti-people policies and laws and forced people for adopting such rules and laws.
He said that at the time when whole world is hit by pandemic and the same was mismanaged by the BJP led Government in India; laws like farms bills, property tax were implemented amidst the pandemic. “BJP is known for anti-national policies and laws,” he added.
Chib said that despite resistance against the anti-people policies by the BJP led government; these rules were forcibly imposed on masses. He said that instead of imposing news laws and policies, the government should mend the damaged economy, worst healthcare system, create jobs for unemployed youth, nurture education system, lower down crime rate in J&K UT.
Amidst Covid-19 scare the distribution of PDS ration through biometric would cause chaos among the masses and could lead to surge in the number of patients. “Government must wait till the pandemic is over to bring on such policies.”
The senior Congress leaders appealed to the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to put on hold such polices for some time till the Covid-19 pandemic is over and economy gains some strength.
